There are two basic types of jobs that fall under the “Add-on” category – adding air conditioning and doing an addition.  Air conditioning can be added to almost any type of home or room that you can imagine – as long as the system is designed properly.  At W.F. Smith, we believe in providing clients with custom designs for their new air conditioning system.  Those solutions could include traditional ductwork systems, high velocity (mini-duct) systems, or even ductless (mini-split) systems.  We do not fit one solution to every home, unlike many contractors – we fit every home to the best possible solution.

The life expectancy of a heating and air conditioning system varies depending on type, manufacturer and usage.  As a general rule, if you have a unit that is older than 18 years, you should start looking at replacement options.  Sure, there are units that we see on occasion that last 40 or more years – but they are (a) the exception and (b) typically inefficient when compared to today’s equipment.  We are not saying you should definitely replace the old unit – just that you should, at the very least, start to look at what is out there.  If you are reading this, then you are already on your way to the first step – setting up a free, no obligation in home estimate.

Here is a Before and After photo set from a gas/AC system replacement we did last year. We were invited back to the customer's home recently to prepare a quote for some additional work. This system consisted of a Lennox G61MPV high efficieincy  furnace and Lennox HSXA19 two-stage air conditioner. Unlike many weight loss ads where the before and after photos look like completely difference people, you can see the same return air duct and SpaceGard air filter here.
